Vista House and the Friends of Vista House
The Vista House was built between 1916-1918 on Crown Point, arguably the most scenic stop on the Historic Columbia River Highway. It was constructed to provide travelers a place to rest and refresh themselves as they made their way down the magnificent Columbia River Gorge. Learn More History Here.
The Friends of Vista House is a non-profit group that partners with Oregon State Parks to help preserve and share the story of this beautiful historic Oregon structure. Our volunteers staff the interpretive desk, welcoming visitors to the Vista House and the Columbia River Gorge. Visitors learn about the architecture of Vista House, the Historic Columbia River Highway, the Columbia River Gorge, local history, the geology, flora and fauna of the region, and the many wonderful attractions along the highway and throughout the gorge. On the lower level of the Vista House, visitors will find the Friends of Vista House Gift Shop and Cafe, offering high quality regional artwork and gift items, refreshments and snacks for travelers. Both shops are open throughout the spring, summer, fall seasons. Winter openings are determined in coordination with Oregon Parks and Recreation and will be announced on our website.
The Vista House is designated as Bike Friendly.
